What are we looking for?
As Automation Expert, you will play a critical role in the design, implementation, and optimisation of automated systems at our clients’ terminals. You will collaborate closely with client teams, including operations, engineering and IT, to ensure seamless integration of automated systems. You will advise on required system and equipment functionalities, on testing and on implementation methodologies to make sure our clients meet their performance targets.
What will you bring
- Academic degree in a relevant education
- Proven experience (5+ years) in implementation and / or optimisation of automation systems, preferably in a port or container terminal environment
- Strong knowledge of port logistics, IT / automation technologies, testing and / or software implementation
- Strong analytical skills and ability to translate conceptual solutions in optimise automated processes
- Critical, assertive and independent attitude
- Excellent skills in English language
- Willingness to travel
Job Description Automation Expert
Your core job activity as a Automation Expert will be mapping existing operational processes against new processes involving automation of terminal operations. Our clients are working on the implementation of different types of automated equipment such as automated guided vehicles, autonomous trucks, automated straddle carriers and automated rubber tired gantry cranes. Jointly with Portwise’s team of technical professionals, you will be part of major project milestones and achieve success by moving equipment fully automated jointly with our clients.
At Portwise, we distinguish ourselves from other consulting and engineering firms, with our extensive automation and operational knowledge of the container terminal and logistics industry worldwide.
Our clients include all major container terminal operators worldwide and many local port operators. There is a strong international flavour to the job, and travelling and being at our clients’ sites is involved from time to time.
